Blooming Into May!

May is a wonderful time to get outside, explore, create, and enjoy the beauty of the season together! As the days grow warmer and nature comes to life, there are so many opportunities for hands-on play and discovery. This activity calendar is filled with simple, playful ideas to inspire kids and families all month long, encouraging creativity, connection, and joyful moments every day.

May 1 - Create a Nature Bracelet

Wrap tape (sticky side out) around your wrist and head outside to collect small leaves and flowers. Stick your finds onto the bracelet to create wearable nature art.

May 2 - Build a Backyard Obstacle Course

Use cones, sticks, or toys to design a simple obstacle course. Kids can jump, crawl, and balance their way through for active outdoor fun.

May 3 - Paint with Water Outside

Give kids a paintbrush and a cup of water and let them “paint” fences, sidewalks, or rocks. Watch their creations disappear as they dry in the sun.

May 4 - Go on a Bug Hunt

Look under rocks, logs, and leaves to discover tiny creatures. Talk about what you find and gently return everything to its home.

May 24 - Give Your Kid a Magnifying Glass

Inviting your children to look closely and observe is the first step in becoming a young scientist. Kids are built with an innate desire to explore (and ask lots and lots of questions!). Giving them a magnifying glass, a simple but essential tool, will encourage their curiosity and open up their explorations.

Magnifying glasses give kids a chance to see things in a whole new way, like getting an up-close view of tiny insects—and when we say up-close, we mean really up-close!
