Hello, September!
September brings the beginning of a new season, with cooler days, changing leaves, and plenty of opportunities for play and discovery. This month's activity calendar is filled with simple ideas to encourage creativity, movement, learning, and family connection as summer turns to fall.
From building with blocks and exploring the outdoors to making applesauce and creating fall art, these activities make it easy to find a little fun in each day.
September 1 - Draw a Favorite Summer Memory
Summer may be coming to an end, but there are plenty of memories to carry with you! Today, draw a picture of your favorite summer adventure, whether it was a day at the beach, a family vacation, playing outside, or simply spending time together.
September 2 - Make a Pancake Breakfast
Start the day with a special pancake breakfast that you can make together! Try adding berries, bananas, apples, or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
September 3 - Make a Weather Journal
Become a weather watcher! Start a simple weather journal and have your child draw or write about the weather each day. As the month goes on, look back at your journal and see how the weather changes as summer turns to fall.

September 9 - Go on an Evening Flashlight Walk
As the days begin to get shorter, head outside for an evening adventure. Bring flashlights and take a walk around your neighborhood or backyard. Notice how familiar places look different in the evening and listen for the sounds of nighttime.

September 10 - Learn About a Famous Person
Choose a famous person who interests your child and learn a little about their life. They might be an artist, scientist, explorer, inventor, musician, athlete, or another person who made an impact on the world.
September 11 - Play Veterinarian
Set up a pretend veterinarian's office using stuffed animals, blankets, boxes, and a few household items like bandages and thermometers. This is a great way to practice empathy!

Fall is almost here! Create a "Welcome Fall" sign to hang on your door, in a window, or near your seasonal decorations. Use paint, crayons, leaves, apples, or other autumn-inspired materials to decorate your sign.
September 20 - Apple Stamp with Paint
Celebrate apple season with a simple painting activity! Cut an apple in half, dip it into paint, and press it onto paper to create beautiful apple-shaped stamps.
September 21 - Learn Five New Words
Choose five new words to learn today. They can be words from another language, words connected to nature, or simply five words your child hasn't heard before. Use the new words throughout the day and see how many times you can practice them.
September 22 - First Day of Fall!
Happy first day of fall! Today marks the beginning of a new season filled with changing leaves, crisp mornings, apples, pumpkins, and cooler days.

September 23 - Make a Fall Sensory Bin
Create a sensory bin inspired by the season. Fill a container with items such as dried leaves, acorns, pinecones, corn, oats, cinnamon sticks, or other fall-inspired materials.
Add scoops, bowls, cups, or small figures and let your child explore the different textures and create their own play.
September 24 - Have a Silly-Walking Race
