DIY Block Menorah

Welcome the season of light with this beautiful craft project that honors Hanukkah and adds festivity and a creative flair to the holiday. As you assemble this DIY Menorah and then use it for the eight nights of Hanukkah, we hope that the lights of these candles brighten your spirit and the world around you. With each nightly lighting of the candle, may you celebrate all the miracles in your life, big and small, and that you have lovely moments with your family and friends.

Gather Your Supplies:

These are the supplies we gathered and used for this project

  • HABA Wooden Blocks
  • Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Hot Glue or Wood Glue
  • Small Brass Candle Holders (these are very important for safety)

Create your Menorah:

A DIY Menorah made of HABA Wooden Blocks is sitting on a table.

Step 1: Gather your favorite HABA Block shapes and then layout your design to ensure that everything is in the right place and that the Menorah will work well before painting and gluing.

Step 2: Choose your paint colors. We chose silver but this Menorah can be as colorful and unique as your children would like it to be. Paint your blocks and then let dry on a newspaper or drying tray.

Step 2: After your painted blocks have dried, glue them together using hot glue or wood glue into your desired menorah design. Make sure you have 9 spots for candles.

Step 3: Glue on the brass candle holders to the top of the blocks to hold your candles. Let dry.

Step 4: Once your Menorah is dry and the candle holders are secured, you can use your Menorah to begin to celebrate the 8 nights of Hanukkah!

Please note: As with any activity that uses candles and fire, please be very careful and never leave candles unattended.
